Job Posting 1: RELIGIOUS EDUCATION COORDINATOR

Pathways Unitarian Universalist Church of Hurst, Texas (Pathways) is seeking a quarter-time (10 hours per week) Religious Education Coordinator (REC) to provide dynamic leadership for our children’s and youth religious education (RE) programs.

Position description:

• Responsible for teaching most Sundays from 9:30am – 12:45pm
• Recruit, train, and nurture a core of volunteer teachers and assistants who are responsible for facilitating quality lesson plans for all classes.
• Manage children’s and youth’s religious education programs. Planning for up to three classrooms based on age and developmental ability.
• Ensure a safe learning environment, working with the Board to implement and regularly review childcare and safe congregational policies.
• Communicate with the congregation, including Board, Religious Education Council, and volunteers, both on Sunday morning and during the week.
• Collaborate with worship planners to provide a minimum of 2 multigenerational worship experiences for the congregation throughout the church year.
• Implementing the RE budget in cooperation with Board treasurer and Board RE liaison.
• Participate in meetings with board, RE Council, and congregation as requested.
• Maintain relationships with colleagues in other congregations.
• Represent the RE Program to the congregation and community. Communicate accomplishments and opportunities to serve.
• Actively promote UU Principles within the congregation.
• Keep accurate records of registration, attendance, and volunteering. Provide a monthly report to the Board RE liaison which includes detailed description of hours worked that month.

Qualifications:

• Relevant college courses or equivalent experience
• Background check required
• Current first-aid/CPR certification or completion of certification paid for by Pathways
• Knowledge, understanding, and passion for teaching about Unitarian Universalism to children, youth, and families
• Demonstrate leadership and team building skills and ability to work independently
• Strong organization and relational skills, including conflict management
• Understanding of multiculturalism, anti-oppression, and anti-racism within Unitarian Universalism and the wider community
• Preferred that the applicant live within 15 miles of Pathways Church

Projected Start Date: As soon as possible

Salary:  $750/month, Pay issued on the 15^th and last day of each month

Hours: 10 hours per week, 12 months per year with 2 weeks total of Paid Time Off

Reports to:  Designated RE supervisor

Job Posting 2: CHILDCARE PROFESSIONAL

Pathways Unitarian Universalist Church of Hurst, Texas (Pathways) is seeking an hourly Childcare Professional (CP) to provide childcare for our congregation on Sundays.

Position description:

Job responsibilities:

• The primary duty is to provide childcare during Common Ground and during the discussion group hour
• Ages of children in nursery range from 3 months through 5 years of age
• Firm adherence to the check-in and dismissal process for each child attending the nursery
• Operate a walkie-talkie for communication and adherence to safety procedures required
• Represent Pathways to the congregation and community
• Notify of sickness or required absence to designated RE Council contact ahead of 8:30 am on Sundays
• Report hours and attendance to designated RE supervisor

Qualifications:

• Background check required
• Show proof of CPR/First Aid certification or receive same training paid for by Pathways
• Preferred that the applicant live within 15 miles of Pathways Church

Projected start date: As soon as possible

Pay:  Pay rate of $15/hour. Additional hours if applicable will be paid at a rate of $15/hour. Pay issued weekly.

Hours: 3 hours per week, 9:45am – 12:45pm Sundays. In the case of no children in nursery, CP may be asked to assist in activities with older children

Reports to:  Designated RE supervisor
