Upcoming Sermons:
Join us as we gather on Sundays to hear the insightful, practical and thought-provoking messages from our preachers,
lay and professional. Our sermons cover a wide range of topics from a variety of perspectives, traditions and values,
all guiding us to our unique right relationships.
A Catholic was explaining to a Unitarian Universalist friend how dogma was formulated in the Catholic Church. "First it is debated by the Church authorities. Then, when the debate is ended, whatever was decided upon is declared dogma by the Pope."
"It's pretty much the same with us," said the Unitarian Universalist.
"I thought you didn't have dogma?"
"That's because no debate among Unitarian Universalists ever ends!"
The members and friends of Pathways represent people who are politically-liberal, politically-conservative, fervent Christians, Christian-skeptics, Buddhists, tree-huggers, radicals, activists, Yankees, Texans…the list is long and the range diverse. While many of us share common threads, if you attend a committee meeting you might see that our distinguishing features are not
our common threads but our differences. This year during the last week in June, the Unitarian Universalist Association (UUA)
is holding its 47th annual General Assembly in Florida and the theme is "Common Threads." Following her attendance at General Assembly this year, Pam will share news from the UUA and will explore Pathways' relationship to this larger entity.
This is Rev. Kathy's last sermon and last day at Pathways. The service will offer reflections on our year together and encouragement for the future.
