On My Path
The path to spiritual richness requires both inward work, connecting to the spirit of life and love within us, and outward work, connecting to that same spirit in others. Deepen and enrich your journey in the company of other pilgrims as we explore our connection to the divine. Newcomers are always welcome.
TED Talks – How Early Life Experience Is Written Into DNA – Moshe Szyf is a pioneer in the field of epigenetics, the study of how living things reprogram their genome in response to social factors like stress and lack of food. His research suggests that biochemical signals passed from mothers to offspring tell the child what kind of world they’re going to live in, changing the expression of genes. “DNA isn’t just a sequence of letters; it’s not just a script” says Szyf. “DNA is a dynamic movie in which our experiences are being written”
Thank you to ALL who have donate items for the up coming Garage Sale!
Since we are lay led, our organization runs on the efforts of volunteers. If you have the time and/or energy, please consider volunteering. Two options are listed below. Your help is truly appreciated.
The Saturday Cleaning Team still needs a few people who are willing to be alternates/substitutes if members of the team call in sick or have last minute emergencies. Volunteer crew typically meets around 9:30 or 10 a.m. for ONLY about an hour every other Saturday. Contact Stan Roskoski for more information (email@example.com).
Update: Saturday, June 10, The Dallas Fort Worth area will be hosting the NTUUC Leadership Conference Let Love Lead. The Bishop Carlton Pearson will be the guest speaker. NTUUC is still looking for an Event (decorating) Chair as well as volunteers for the day of the event. Would a member of Pathways be willing to step into the role of Event (decorating) Chair? Pathways Board of Trustees election will be held soon, date to be announced by the Board shortly. Per requirements of our by-laws, candidates are to be announced at least 30 days prior to the election. One seat will be voted on, the election of a Trustee to fill the seat of Rick Anderton, whose term will be expiring shortly.
It is with pleasure the Pathways UU Leadership Development Committee (LDC) is nominating George Smith to this position on the Board of Trustees. The term of service will be 3 years, expiring in 2020.
Members who are interested in standing for election should immediately contact persons on the LDC. Election to the Board of Trustees is not election to a specific office on the board. An election/decision among Trustees (currently serving and newly elected) will be held within that group to determine positions/duties on the Board of Trustees. All voting members are encouraged to speak with the candidate and ask any questions they may have prior to the election.
George Smith (standing for election, 3 year term of service, to expire 2020)
* Member of Pathways since 2011.
* Chairman of the Fundraising task force for 2 years, during which time was lead on several highly successful garage sales.
* Lead organizer of Game Night as part of the Fun & Fellowship Team.
* Volunteer with NEED (Northeast Emergency Distribution) 3 years to present; including weekly transfer of donated food from

* Teller and Bookkeeper for Sunday donations to Pathways and Outreach recipient for nearly 2 years to present.
* Member 2016 Pledge Drive Team.
* Member of the current Pathways UU Wellspring program
* Currently a Tarrant County Election Official for over 17 years
* Foster/mentor to rescued Cairn Terriers and other terrier breeds for 15 years to present.
Now retired from Burlington-Northern Railway as a Senior Analyst, George is delighted to be a part of the Pathways community. He looks forward to facilitating healthy growth and opportunity at this dynamic time in Pathways history.
Respectfully submitted, Pathways UU Leadership Development Committee
